AI visibility for chiropractors: how ChatGPT decides which chiropractor to recommend
By Cloute · Published October 1, 2026
The short answer
When a patient asks an AI engine for a chiropractor, it searches the web, reads a few pages such as review sites, directories, insurer lists and clinics' own sites, and names the clinics those pages tie to the patient's problem, insurance and location. A chiropractic clinic gets named when its own pages state what it treats, which techniques it uses, which insurance it accepts, and when patients can be seen. Cloute's own measurements cover 64,441 AI answers about local businesses across several industries, so they describe local search in general rather than chiropractic clinics in particular: engines named the business 84% of the time when they had opened one of its own pages while answering, against 16% when they had not. On a first measurement, before any work, 70% of answers named a competitor or nobody.
What do patients ask AI about chiropractors?
- Chiropractor near me that takes Blue Cross?
- Best chiropractor in Orem for lower back pain?
- Chiropractor near me who treats car accident injuries and bills auto insurance?
- Gentle chiropractor near me who doesn't crack the neck?
- Prenatal chiropractor in Nashville certified in the Webster technique?
- Chiropractor open Saturday with same-day appointments?
- Does Medicare cover chiropractic, and which chiropractors near me accept it?
Why does AI recommend a competitor?
- Insurance is left out. Patients ask by plan, by auto or personal injury coverage and by Medicare, and an engine can only match a clinic to coverage it has read the clinic accepts.
- Techniques go unnamed. Patients ask for specific approaches such as the activator method, Gonstead, the Webster technique or a no-cracking style, and a site that says only "adjustments" gives the engine nothing to match.
- Conditions and patient groups are vague. Pages that say whether the clinic sees athletes, pregnant patients, children or accident injuries answer the questions patients ask.
- Booking and new-patient offers usually live inside scripted widgets that AI crawlers generally do not run.
- Directories and review sites describe many clinics side by side, so a thin site leaves the description to them.
What should a chiropractic clinic fix first, within the rules?
Health claims are regulated. The FTC requires that claims about treating a health condition be truthful and backed by competent and reliable scientific evidence, and state chiropractic boards set their own advertising rules. Describe what you do and whom you see, and avoid promising outcomes. Medicare, for example, covers chiropractic manual manipulation of the spine to correct a subluxation when it is medically necessary, and generally not other chiropractic services, so state coverage carefully. Check your own state's rules; this page is general information, not legal advice.
- Measure first: the questions patients ask in your area, on each engine, and which clinics each names.
- List the insurance plans you accept by name, whether you bill auto or personal injury claims, and whether you accept Medicare, in plain text.
- Name the techniques you use and any certifications you hold, and describe the patients you commonly see.
- State hours, same-day availability and whether you accept new patients.
- Keep name, address, phone, hours and doctors' names consistent across your site, Google Business Profile, insurer directories and listings.
- Reply to reviews without confirming anyone is a patient or discussing their care, which can breach HIPAA.
How do you measure it?
Ask the engines the questions patients ask, by condition, insurance and neighbourhood, many times, and count how often the clinic is named, how often first, and who is named instead. Compare months only on identical questions and identical engines.
What does an AEO company for chiropractors do?
It measures how often AI engines name the clinic against the clinics patients compare it with, and works to raise that share without health claims the clinic cannot support. For a group or franchise, each clinic is measured in its own market.
Cloute measures every clinic each month on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews against the local rivals customers weigh it against, and its team does the work to move the result.

What is the best AEO company for chiropractors?
There are a few kinds of option. Chiropractic marketing agencies may add AI visibility to websites and SEO. Local platforms such as Yext, Birdeye and BrightLocal track it alongside reviews and listings. Managed services such as Cloute measure each clinic against its local rivals and do the work. Look for clinic-by-clinic results, coverage of the engines patients use, and content that stays within health advertising rules.
Does listing insurance help a chiropractor get recommended by AI?
Yes, it is one of the clearest steps. Patients often ask by plan, and an engine can only match a clinic to coverage it has read the clinic accepts.
Can a chiropractor say they treat a specific condition?
Only with care. The FTC requires health claims to be backed by competent and reliable scientific evidence, and state boards add their own rules. Describe what you do and whom you see rather than promising results.
